The PlaybackSchools' search is designed to be simple to use and offer you a good range of results. You can look for resources by either browsing complete series, or searching using particular key words.

If you prefer to look for videos by key term, use the 'Search' option:

• As you enter a search term the search engine uses pre-emptive suggestions, which are based on previous search terms conducted by PlaybackSchools' visitors.
• The search engine compares your key term(s) to the PlaybackSchools' resources and returns a list of search results by relevance.
• You can change the order of search results at any time by selecting an alternative priority from the drop-down 'Sort by' menu - for example alphabetically, by relevance and by popularity.

At any time you may refine your PlaybackSchools search by using the filter options on the left-hand side of the page. For example, you may wish to narrow a search by:

• subject
• age range
• whole school
• my school life
• roles

On the video page, click on 'Play video' in the centre of the image to begin playing the film. You can use the controls beneath the video to fast forward, rewind, adjust the volume, pause, expand the video to full screen, and play.

The videos on PlaybackSchools are not available to download. However, If you are interested in videos related to Science, Maths, Engineering or Technology, the National STEM Centre eLibrary has a full collection of STEM related videos which can be downloaded. During 2012 we will also transfer STEM related Teachers TV videos to the eLibrary.

You don't need a particular media player installed, you just need Flash. You can also view the video on an iPad and iPhone via an HTML 5 player.

If you cannot access videos from other services either, then there may be a fault on your computer or with your internet connection. Sometimes it may be that your computer is protected by a firewall. In these cases you should consult your system administrator or your computer manual.

Our videos are not available to stream to IP addresses that are outside the UK. You might have been identified as outside the UK because your computer is on a foreign-based network, or is routed overseas. Some programs can also make your IP address appear as if it is outside the UK. Or sometimes it may be a network error, so it's worth closing your browser or router and then reopening it. You should contact your Internet service provider if the problem persists.

On each video page you will find the icons for social media above the image. Simply click on the icon and log into your account to share the video.
